1. The ACT can be taken digitally or as a paper and pencil test while the SAT is a digital test.
2. On the ACT, questions are more straightforward but there are a lot of questions in each section. The SAT emphasizes critical thinking and reasoning questions that may take longer to answer.
3. The SAT is an adaptive test – this means how a student does on the first part of the test determines the difficulty of questions on the second part of the test.
4. A big difference is that only 25% of the ACT is math while 50% of the SAT is math.
The ACT has a science section that is 25% of the test.
5. The ACT is a longer test than the SAT.
